The Caribbean is positioning itself as a fintech leader by leveraging digital assets and blockchain to diversify its economy. At the Fintech Islands Experience (FiX25) conference, Head of Chambers, Saelese Haynes hosted and moderated a panel discussion with Senator Chad Blackman, Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Investment, Barbados; W. Dave Dowrich, Chief Financial Officer of TIAA; Kirk Henry, Chief Information & Digital Officer of ANSA McAL Group and Dr Craig Ramlal, Head of the Control Systems Group and the Principal Investigator of the Intelligent Systems Laboratory at the University of The West Indies.
The discussion highlighted key initiatives including regulatory frameworks, support for fintech startups, digital platforms, and attracting global companies through collaboration with international and local stakeholders.
FiX25 conference brought together over 500 industry leaders to discuss the Caribbean’s role in fintech. Topics included AI, blockchain, and insurance technology, with notable speakers emphasising collaboration, innovation, and the region’s potential to lead in digital finance.
